Padmini’s marriage was conducted at Guruvayoor Temple on 25th
May 1961.Thousands of her fans from Tamil nadu,Andra
Pradesh,Kerala,Karnataka,Bombay came to temple a day before, in lorry, car and
buses to see her marriage. There is no such marriage happened like this before
or after in Kerala which got a huge media coverage.

“Padmini and Ramachandran got married on yesterday morning at Guruvayoor temple. The superstar of Indian screen Kumari Padmini and Ramachandran, son of Ad. sri A Kunyappa Nambiar,Thallaserry got married on yesterday at Guruvayoor temple.The marriage broke the record of previous marriages held at guruvayoor because of the presence of crowd, which guruvayoor has not seen before.
Padmini was dressed traditionally like a kerala woman. Dr. Ramachandran arrived at temple at 8:05am wearing dhoti and weshti. Jasmine flowers were rained on bride and groom. Thousands of her fans waited outside the temple from 6 am itself to see the arrival of Padmini and husband.
With the nadaswaram play of Ambalapuzha brothers and their Guru Veeraswami, Ramachandran was brought to temple.Lalitha washed his feet and brought to temple front. After that Ragini and Ambika took lamp and flowers in their hand and brought padmini to temple front. T.A Maduram, M.L.Vasanthakumari, Sri ramulu naidu, Guru gopinath etc were present in the function.
Mathrubhumi newspaper of 28 May 1961 reported like this:
“PADMINI IS LEAVING FILM INDUSTRY.”
And two photos and a mini biography were published.
This news made padmini fans very sad. Film producers took this a great chance to attract people to the theatre. The films that padmini finished before marriage was given great importance, and ads in newspaper, posters, banner etc were published with title: “LAST FILM OF PADMINI, COME AND ENJOY IT”
But soon after the marriage she returned to the industry making her fans happy again!!
There was shooting even before 2 days of marriage. Padmini and sister arrived trissur one day before marriage and stayed at Putheri bunglow. She forgot to take ornaments from chennai. They informed Chennai, So L.V Prasad went their home in Chennai and took the ornaments and immediately came Trissur in the special plane of ‘The Hindu’ newspaper.
